ENCHANTED KINGDOM HOSTS THREE NATIONAL RACES THIS AUGUST

Enchanted Kingdom, the country’s first and only world-class theme park will thrill its park goers this August 2-3 and August 9-10 with its first annual SPEEDWEEK@EK.

The whole family will surely enjoy the pure adrenaline rush and electrifying excitement of these fun-filled weekends as Enchanted Kingdom hosts three national races; the 2008 San Mig Coffee Philippine Underbone King Championships, 2008 Shell Super Karting Series and the 2008 National Slalom Series.

Now on its 4th year, the San Mig Coffee National Underbone Series will feature pro-riders competing in the 115CC PETRON SUPER STOCK and SPORTS PRODUCTION, 125CC SUPER STOCK and OPEN CLASSES, 110CC SS / 125CC SS and 150CC OPEN CLASS. Entry fee for all classes is P2, 500 except for 110cc SS / 125CC SS (for beginners only) which is at P800.

The 2008 Shell Super Karting Series on the other hand will have karters competing for the best time in this 8 leg event. It will feature races in the Cadet 60cc, Yamaha Cup Novice, Yamaha Cup Expert, Yamaha Cup Heavy, Mini ROK, ROK Junior Novice, ROK JR Expert, ROK Senior and Formula 125 Senior Open. Official runs will start at 10 am on August 10.

Sponsored by Shell Helix, Federal Tyres, Silverwind Magwheels, Fuji Film, Stoplight TV, Wave 89.1, Starbright Body Kits and Options Unlimited, the 2008 National Slalom Series organized by Race Motorsports Club will feature drivers maneuvering around the racetrack for the fastest time. Cash prizes will be given to the Overall Best time of the day, Production Series Best time of the day, Front Wheel Best time of the day and Novice Best time of the day. Burning rubber and skid marks will surely leave park goers wanting for more.

Guaranteed to fill everyone’s need for speed, SPEEDWEEK will also feature road safety tutorials by Honda, launch of v7 car perfume by Prescripto, car and motorbike exhibits, product samplings and many more. Park goers will likewise be treated to the sounds of Up Dharma Down, Powerhouse band, Amber Davis and more surprises from Pepsi, Gatorade, Great Image and Solar Sports.

    Sebastian Lacson and Javy Quintos won the remaining seven points for La Salle after finishing first and third, respectively.

    In the special prizes, Jet Neric won P2,500 for coming within 53 inches from the cup in Hole No. 3 for the nearest to the Pin award, while Bruce Chiongbian was just 84 inches from Hole No. 5. Other winners were Antonio Pineda for Hole 13 and Kent de la Calzada for Hole No.15.
